Dear
Just a quick reminder that our next (and last until September) GI Talk is coming up next week:
15th April: Bats of Somerset (and beyond) – Liz Walsh
Join us for a brief insight into the secretive world of bats, to learn about the different species we might see at dusk and dawn and find out why they are so important.
Liz joins us from the Somerset Bat Group. She has been studying bats for a decade as a volunteer and has a particular interest in monitoring wildlife using bioacoustics. She tells us that she will be bringing a number of ‘museum specimens’ for us to look at!
The Venue: Ilminster Arts Centre, 35 East St, Ilminster TA19 0AN. Talk starts 7.30pm. As ever, entry is free, but donations are welcome.
Also, Colin Ryall and friends have organised this talk in Combe St Nicholas Village Hall:
23rd April: The Lives of our Swifts – an illustrated talk by Stuart McFadzean
Once a common bird of summer in our towns and villages, the Common Swift is, in many places, no longer common. Come and find out about their fascinating lives, why they are struggling and how we can help them to thrive again.
And an important date for your diaries: We are supporting the showing of the film People’s Emergency Briefing – on 14th May at the Minster Rooms, Court Barton TA19 0DU. More details shortly. See here for the trailer.
Kind regards
Chris
