Green Ilminster Talk – Wessex Water on Improving Water Quality in Somerset

Dear

Just a quick reminder that our next GI Talk is coming up in a couple of weeks:

Wednesday 18th March: Improving Water Quality in Somerset – John Bagnall from Wessex Water

John is a Principal Environmental Scientist at Wessex Water and will talk about:

  • The River Isle and its importance for the Somerset Levels and Moors
  • The water quality of the River Isle
  • What eutrophication is and what its impacts and sources are
  • Wessex Water’s business plan for the next five year and its impact within Somerset
  • How Wessex Water safeguards the Somerset Levels and Moors

Our last talk for this season will be:

15th April: Bats of Somerset (and beyond) – Liz Walsh

Join us for a brief insight into the secretive world of bats, to learn about the different species you might see at dusk and dawn and find out why they are so important.

Liz joins us from the Somerset Bat Group and has been studying bats for a decade as a volunteer. She has a particular interest in monitoring wildlife using bioacoustics.

The Venue: Ilminster Arts Centre, 35 East St, Ilminster TA19 0AN Talk starts 7.30pm. As ever, entry is free, but donations are welcome.

We will be back again in September with a whole new programme of talks. If, in the meantime, you have any suggestions for speakers, or would like to do a talk yourself, please do email us on info@greenilminster.org.uk.

Kind regards

Chris
