Event Details

I’m very pleased to be able to tell you that this month we will be planting trees on a completely new site for us. We have been working with the Dillington Estate Manager, Ollie Blackburn, who has identified a site just to the east of Pretwood on Dillington’s Townsend Farm.

This is land that is very difficult to cultivate because it slopes steeply down to a hedge line, but is perfect for tree planting. We will be planting about 200 mixed indigenous trees most if not all deciduous varieties. We have produced a planting plan that has been agreed and which I have added at the end.

You will need your normal outdoor working gear with strong boots as the terrain is somewhat rough. I will assess the site in the New Year to see whether we need to be doing any weed-clearance too, so you may need to bring tools suitable for that task, as well as a spade.

Time Change: Please note that we will be meeting at the Market House at 10:00am (instead of the normal 11:00am) and returning to the Gamesmaster Cafe somewhere about 1:00pm. It is walkable, but I will drive down with tools, trees, guards and stakes etc.

This session is suitable for dogs and children with the usual caveat that it is your responsibility to supervise them at all times (this is private land).
