March 2023 Newsletter

Another busy month at Green Ilminster. Lots going on and even more in the pipeline!

The Share and Repair shop has been celebrating its 1st birthday and continues to go from strength to strength – we have settled into a steady flow of repairs and the shop remains very busy. We are always looking for more volunteers to work in the shop or take on some repair work. We are particularly looking for some more volunteers with sewing skills so if you are interested or know someone who might be please do contact us via our website or FB page.

We are also currently publicising our Gardener’s Social seed and plant swap which will be held on 1st April – a chance to share seeds/plants and gardening tips with other green fingered folk! Everyone is welcome – from beginners to more experienced gardeners – there will be tea and cake too!! Find out more here.

Green Ilminster will be focusing on the ever-troublesome subject of litter during March and April. We will be trying to highlight the issue and the long-term environmental problems it causes. If we can get even a handful of people to clean up their act it will be worth doing. We will be trying to bring the problem under the spotlight and increase engagement in the community with some public messaging in the most problematic areas – plus one of our regular litter picks on 16th April – find out more here.

It is also Spring Green drinks” on 7th March 7.30pm – a great social evening at the Dolphin for those who are concerned about our planet.

The Ilminster Tree Project have a particularly busy few weeks leading up to the end of the planting season – there are hundreds more trees to be planted so if you fancy a lovely afternoon with a great bunch of people do consider volunteering for this group. Find out more here.
