August 2023 Newsletter

Our big news this month is that we’ve decided to team up with Westcountry Rivers Trust (WRT) to monitor the water of our local River Isle. We plan on having a team of people sampling and testing water, on a monthly basis, at a number of crucial sites on the Isle from Combe St Nicholas to Puckington. Testing kits are provided, and the results will be input by the volunteers directly into the WRT database. If this is something that you would like to get involved in, please let us know by emailing info@greenilminster.org.uk.

The Share and repair shop continues to thrive – this week we have had our 700th repair through the shop! As always, if you would like to get involved in this project, please find more information here. There will be an open event at our shop on 2nd September 2-4pm so feel free to drop in and have a chat.

Green Ilminster will be offering its support to Party on the Park this year. The event is aiming to become more sustainable, which is great news and Green Ilminster will be on hand to try and give a green nudge to the event.

Green Ilminster will also be making a presentation at an upcoming event on 8th September hosted by Somerset Unitary Council, around their recently agreed Tree Strategy. This is a very exciting opportunity for our group to not only talk about our achievements so far but understand how we can be a part of the Council’s woodland creation ambitions – hopefully right here in Ilminster!
